Wellness Lifestyle: How To Afford It

A Wellness Lifestyle is a life designed around the key need we all have: Abundant Health.

Without health, we can't do any of the things we want and need to do with our lives. When our health fails, the rules of the game of life change.

Most of us sacrifice our health to some degree in our work life. We put up with stress in our workplace. We put up with toxic chemicals we use in our work. We subjugate our body's natural rhythms to the speed that is expected from us at work. We wear out our body and/or our spirit, working to create our employer's wealth.

Our control over out diet suffers due to the demands of our workplace. We eat what's provided for us at working meetings. We grab fast food for the drive to work, for a quick lunch, or for the commute home. We know fast food is unhealthy, but it's available, it's cheap, and we're hungry and pressed for time.

Let's face it: working can put us on an unhealthy treadmill. It's a fight to resist the pressure to be forced into an unhealthy lifestyle of the majority of our peers.

Many of us don't even like what we do at work and this takes its toll on us psychologically and physically. We pay the price with indigestion, less productive mental attitudes, a sense that we're not in control of our own lives, etc.

We give most of our energies to our work and then don't have the time or energy to cultivate our health when we get home. The biggest barrier most of us face in creating a wellness lifestyle is our job...if we still have one.

Now that a lot of us are finding ourselves unemployed, with uncertain prospects for the future, it seems a good time to re-examine how we might find work in the future that is built around improving our health, rather than tearing it down. ******************************************* I have mostly been self-employed throughout my life and this gave me the freedom to work daily on maintaining my health. This has been very satisfying and has helped me avoid the need for urgent doctors and prescriptions, saving me lots of grief and money.

Let me assure you that the commodity we know as "health care" is no match for natural health.

Many people have told me how surprised they were to learn my age -- I guess I don't look it -- and I give most of the credit to being self-employed and having the freedom to spend a little time daily to maintain my health and peace of mind.

Living a wellness lifestyle is a very attractive idea, but how do we pay the bills?

In view of the condition of the world economy in late 2009, it might be wise to design a self-employment fallback plan to create our own income. And, while we're at it, we might make sure our new work is conducive to a wellness lifestyle.

In my work as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Commerce, I had a lot of time and opportunity to study home employment. Working with a rural community, too far from major markets and unattractive to high tech industries, we tried to encourage the growth of small businesses that could create jobs for local residents.

Looking back on the types of small businesses we encouraged then, we find that none are still in operation. They failed, taking people's hopes and life savings with them.

Tourism, some forestry jobs, and service businesses in general were what we were left with, but now their survival is in question due to the economy's general tightness with money.

Oddly enough, the one business model I came across in my search for ways to create high-paying jobs in rural communities was direct selling, also known as network marketing.

Each business opportunity must be judged on its own merits. If you find that to be too much work, then perhaps business is not for you.

I'm not saying that network marketing or direct selling is best for everyone. What I am saying is that it is a legitimate opportunity that holds many advantages for the right person IF they do their homework before they start any business. And, it is very conducive to living a wellness lifestyle.

Networking produces family-supporting incomes for many people. And, as with any profession, those who expect to make fast and easy money without expending much effort will quit and talk negatively about it.

As an answer to our present-day economic problems, I still believe network marketing offers the broadest cross-section of our society with the potential to put average people in charge of a simple business, with huge potential for leverage and income growth.

Leverage is important in our choice of how to create a business that will support our wellness lifestyle over a long retirement. It is important because many of us need to create a significant income quickly to make up for our retirement portfolio losses -- and network marketing is the least risky way I have found with the potential to do this.

Likewise, young people with no nest egg can also us the network marketing vehicle to build an income when there are few jobs available.

Network marketing makes a wellness lifestyle accessible to the majority, not just the independently wealthy few.

Obviously, network marketing, direct sales, or a party plan business aren't the only way to fund a wellness lifestyle, but if you don't have a better idea of your own, networking can provide a proven framework to use in creating your own business, similar to a franchise (at a tiny fraction of the cost).

In addition, network marketing offers one:

* The leverage a large business has, without the hassles of having employees

* A simple business where product creation, sales materials, Web site design, accounting, legal requirements, and more, are all provided by your company

* All you need to do is talk to people, by the means of your choice

The convergence of a growing concern over finding alternatives to the high cost of health care, plus the need for many people worldwide to find a new economic purpose in life, combined with the many superior preventive health products offered only by network marketing make this THE business opportunity where fortunes will be made.

Network marketing offers the possibility of returning economic power to the middle classes. It is the ideal equalizer of financial opportunity that relies on individual effort, rather than huge capital investment and technical skills or expensive training.

The revolution in American and global business will be a populist, cooperative venture, if we will rise to the challenge. MLM is the perfect vehicle to fund that impossible retirement or that career in a jobless recovery for the young.

Give it a look to see if it is the right opportunity for you.
