Weight Loss Surgery: A Second Opinion

Weight loss surgery is being promoted as a last-ditch effort for obese people to lose weight they can't seem to lose any other way. But, is it the right thing to do? And, have they really tried the only right way to achieve a natural healthy weight?

Facts to Consider:

* Calorie-restrictive diets don't work Trying to lose weight with a temporary diet that goes against our body's genetic programming is a "Fool's Errand"

* Bariatric surgery can be fatal

* The patient hasn't learned any of the real-life practical lessons about controlling themselves and their appetite, or even how to eat for health. (They may have taken classes or undergone counseling for their compulsive eating habits, but -- if they haven't personally triumphed over this addiction, it's all just book-knowledge. The addict may know what they should do, but what good is it if they can't consistently do it?

* Where is the pride of accomplishment when you have weight loss done TO you?

* Weight loss surgery is an admission of failure which undermines the individual's self-esteem

* Having weight loss surgery is like having artificial muscles implanted by a surgeon. It is totally phony. You haven't earned the strength or done the work -- it's all for show. You are not stronger as a result of having exerted yourself to achieve anything. It only proves you have access to the money (or a good insurance plan) to have it done.

Your mind is capable of shaping your body through diet and exercise, but it all begins with your seizing conscious control over your habitual thoughts.

Who is in control of your mind, anyway? You, or the processed food manufacturers?

The secret to never having to resort to weight loss surgery is to never let your weight get out of control. There are legal additives put in packaged foods that almost force those who eat them to eat more and more. These additives are addictive, like crack cocaine. Food manufacturers hire scientists to concoct these recipes to hook unsuspecting consumers, all to sell more of their products.

Now, this process of creating addiction to processed foods starts in the womb, caused by bad diet choices of the mother. It is further implemented when baby is moved from breast milk to formula, which is commonly loaded with sugar and excitotoxins such as MSG and its analogs.

Then, the growing child is slyly offered baby food with more sugar and more appetite stimulants. This not only affects their metabolism, but impedes their mental development. So much the better for creating helpless dependency on the soothing pleasure that is only available from these engineered-for-addiction foods.

Food Scientists Intend to Make You a Customer for Life

This is no secret and if you don't avail yourself of the information of what's being pulled on you, you will be manipulated by these food chemists into becoming their slave. If you are already obese, then their evil plans for you have succeeded. Are you going to surrender or fight?

Processed foods are the drugs of choice for obese people. Even when they realize they are enslaved -- and they cut back on how much they are eating -- they only reduce their metabolic rate, making it nearly impossible to lose weight.

Why? They are still addicted to fattening foods, whether they eat a little of them or as much as they want. Cut back, and their body simply slows down metabolic rate to keep the fat stores it has to prevent what it sees as imminent starvation.

What they need to do is to teach their body new, healthy habits. The body's natural impetus is to be healthy, to survive. When one becomes addicted to artificial flavor enhancers(MSG and its many surrogates), or HFCS, they can never get enough. Another "dose" only satisfies briefly and then they can only think about having the next "hit".

Making the conscious choice to remove these addictive additives from their diet is crucial, if they are to avoid the inevitable need for weight loss surgery.

This can be done. As with ending any addiction, there will be a period of time where one is miserable, but this will pass if one persists with determination.

Your body must get used to no longer having the endless cycle of intense food-based stimulation of the pleasure centers of the brain, followed by a crash of energy and mood. What kind of a bargain is that?! The pleasure is so short-lived and the longing for more of the same is much longer!

By the way, the excitotoxins -- also known as "flavor enhancers" -- are causing major damage to food-a-holics' nervous sytems and brains, actually KILLING cells from over-stimulation, possibly leading to Alzheimer's Disease, ALS, and Parkinson's Disease, to name just a few.

And, even when they've had their stomach size reduced, the craving for these super-fattening foods is still there. What will they put in their tiny new pouch?

To me, weight loss surgery is a cop-out. Weight can be lost without the expense of surgery, without the danger of surgical mistakes or hospital infections of the MRSA variety. And personal strength can be gained by exercising one's willpower to achieve a major victory.

(How do I know any of this? I speak from personal experience in overcoming a sugar addiction.)

This personal victory is an asset that can be used again in all areas of life. When you KNOW you have overcome major self-created obstacles, you have confidence in yourself that you can conquer ANY future challenge. That is powerful, my friend!

So, really, it is a choice whether you will decide to do what makes you more powerful or more comfortable(but weaker internally).

Nature's way of dealing with those who continuously indulge in unhealthy practices is to cull them from the population. Modern medicine offers the option to pay cash money for the privilege of keeping our bad habits, our dysfunctional behaviors. Is that really what you want to achieve by having weight loss surgery?
