A Low Fat Diet Plan To Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease

A Low Fat Diet Plan has been shown by several physicians, surgeons, and medical researchers to be the answer to the epidemic of heart attacks and strokes caused by the modern Western diet. One of the preeminent doctors to advocate reversing heart disease through a change in diet is Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr.

The answers to all these questions point in the same direction: a simple whole-foods diet that is essentially vegetarian or vegan: No animal fats, no added vegetable oils, very little fat of any kind, even from avocados and nuts.

The idea behind the low fat diet plan is this: Fat, especially animal fat found in meat, milk, cheese, poultry, and fish, is the key factor that makes our arteries get plugged up, leading to heart attacks. Fat is a very concentrated source of calories (9 calories per gram) compared to carbohydrates (4 calories per gram) and it contains few of the life-giving nutrients (namely, antioxidants) that are contained in fresh vegetables, fruit, and whole grains, for example.

Fat is where toxic pesticide and herbicide residues accumulate in animals. When we eat animals and fish, we pick up these stored and concentrated toxic residues, increasing our risk for cancer.

Fat, especially animal fat, tends to make us gain weight. It is very filling, but contains few nutrients. It crowds out other, more nutritious foods that we could be eating.

A low fat diet plan offers hope for those who wish to get through a long life with the clean, healthy arteries they were born with.
