Energy Drink Ingredients & Prices
A list of energy drink ingredients shows that most people are paying too much for a whole lot of sugar, water, and a few vitamins, with a big dose of caffeine and/or guarana.Sugar, as I've discussed elsewhere, is not an ideal ingredient in energy drinks for many reasons. Number one reason is that sugar leads to the crash that so many people experience after the effects of the sugar and caffeine wears off. It is also associated with the headaches many folks get from commercial brand energy drinks. Number two reason that sugar doesn't belong in quantity on a list of energy drink ingredients is that sugar -- especially high fructose corn syrup, which is commonly used in energy drinks now -- is forty times as fattening as regular cane sugar. Obviously, we've all heard that sugar rots our teeth, so that gets expensive if you drink many of these sugary commercial brands on the chart here

I know I will be wasting my time trying to lecture teens on the healthiness of energy drink ingredients, so I won't bother. Here is what I will say to folks of all ages: If you want a good, long-lasting energy buzz, then drinking 30 or 40 grams of sugar are not going to get you there. Sugar is cheap, it tastes good, and it is addictive, but it's a dumb way to get a buzz on. On the other hand, going with artificial sweeteners is probably worse. Some studies have shown that they not only cause damage to your internal organs, but you gain weight from them anyway! The adults who may be reading this rundown of energy drink facts may appreciate what I'm saying about the dangers of sugar and its connection with diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. As many energy drinks as some of the young people I know drink, they are not only NOT getting a good clear buzz, but they are putting their future health at risk for diabetes and more. (Here's my message: Energy drinks, with healthy ingredients, are not dangerous or bad for you in my personal experience. Those who care about their health, as I do, can safely enjoy energy drinks by choosing wisely which ones they put in their body.) I noticed someone was searching on Google for complaints about A.C.T. energy drink, so let's talk about that. I have passed out lots of samples of A.C.T. to people who want some extra energy. Some people like it just fine. Many who are used to drinking the super sweet commercial brands complain about the flavor of A.C.T. energy drink. They say A.C.T. isn't sweet enough. I find that kind of silly because I tell them, "It's not a "flavor" drink, it's an ENERGY drink. The taste is not what you drink it for -- and the taste only lasts for a few minutes, but the energy lasts for five hours or so, with NO crash. Red Bull is the biggest selling energy drink, but I'm sure that many people find the flavor kind of weird, although they have come to accept it for what it is. I don't judge Red Bull by the taste, though. All I have to do is read the label to know what that much sugar -- 39 grams! -- will do to my mood and energy level. I've got something better that doesn't put my health at risk for a bad buzz. But again, when it comes to energy drink ingredients, there is no use arguing about which flavor is better. Smart people don't choose an energy drink for the flavor, they choose it for the energy. If someone really wants A.C.T. to be sweeter, mix it with orange juice or put a few spoonfuls of sugar in it, if you must. If you want it stronger, put more of the energy drink powder into some green tea, either hot or cold. ACT Energy is very flexible and check out how much less expensive it is! Look at the bottom line on the Comparison Chart, linked above! When one takes a hard look at the energy drink ingredients, the quality of the buzz, the health effects, and the bargain pricing, it only makes sense to choose A.C.T.
